Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo received a red card in the dying moments of Al-Nassr's 2-1 defeat to Al-Hilal in the semi-final of the Saudi Super Cup on Thursday. The setback ended Al-Nassr's hopes of claiming the first trophy of Ronaldo's time in the Middle East.
Luciano Vietto and Moussa Marega scored first-half goals for Al-Hilal, while Talisca netted a second-half penalty for Al-Nassr. Ronaldo, who had been booked earlier, was shown a straight red card in the 93rd minute for a reckless challenge on Andre Carrillo.
Al-Hilal will face Al-Faisaly in the Super Cup final on February 11. Ronaldo will be suspended for that match, a significant blow to Al-Nassr's chances of lifting the trophy.
