The singer made the announcement in a cover story with Billboard, in which she also discussed the future of her career and her desire to make a Lou Reed record. XCX's new album, "Crash," is set for release in March.
The backlash against XCX stems from a recent song, "Girl So Confusing," which many fans have interpreted as being about Lorde. XCX has denied this, but the song has nevertheless drawn criticism for its perceived insensitivity. In the Billboard interview, XCX said that she has been "overwhelmed" by the negative attention and that she is considering taking a break from social media to "reset."
