Gun Safety Advocate Says Daughter Won't Face Jail Time in Rust Shooting

Thell Reed, father of Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, speaks out about daughter's future

GoFundMe campaign launched to raise money for legal costs

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer on the set of the film Rust, will not face jail time for her role in the accidental shooting that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, her father said on Wednesday.

Thell Reed, a gun safety advocate, said in an interview with the New York Post that he believes his daughter is being framed for the shooting and that she will be exonerated.

"I don't think she'll do any jail time," Reed said. "I think they're trying to make an example out of her."**

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, 24, was responsible for the firearms on the set of Rust when actor Alec Baldwin fired a gun that killed Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza.

Reed has said that his daughter was not responsible for the shooting and that she had no idea that the gun Baldwin fired contained live ammunition.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting. No charges have been filed.

In the wake of the shooting, Reed has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for his daughter's legal costs.

The campaign has raised more than $50,000 as of Wednesday.
